Where has Mumtaz gone?
For the past 2 years, she was the star
attraction of Tamil films. Suddenly, you need a magnifying lens to
find out where she is.
What has come over her?
The
string of flops in Tamil Cinema had made her look for greener
pastures on the Telugu shores. She is the one who does the honors
for 'O Podu' in Telugu's 'Gemini'.
She plans to conquer lots
of peaks in the Telugu industry and stick around for a long time.
Tamil here. Tamil there. Tamil Everywhere.
Sneha, Rathi, trisha, Abhuami, Vijayalakshmi ('Friends')…
Good girls. Good-looking girls. And, they speak good Tamil
too.
The latest addition to this list is the heroine of
Bharatiraaja's latest film 'Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei', Priya Mani.
This 'born -in - Kerala, brought up - in - Bangalore'
Tamil girl has finally made Chennai her permanent residence. This
crystal -clear Tamil speaking girl has been signed up for a new film
called 'Romeo Juliet'.
The next edition of 'How to learn
Tamil in 30 Days' should be written by be of these actresses. They
seem to learn this language that fast.
One of the latest
entrants of Tamil cinema Shereen, has picked up the language so fast
that she is speaking beautiful Tamil these days. She speaks in Tamil
to the newspaper people and to her unit members.
She's now
acting in 3 films- 'Jaya', 'Whistle' and 'Student No:1'. Her dream
is to dub in her own voice for atleast one of these films.
Heera
secretly married?
Actress Heera married an American industrialist in a
hush-hush ceremony at Chennai yesterday (15 September 2002).
Her name was romantically linked in the gossip columns with
actors like Sarath Kumar and Ajith. Ever since she broke up with
Ajith, she had kept herself away from Tamil cine industry. In the
rare press interviews that she occasionally gave, she had always
expressed her lack of interest in matrimony.
Amidst this,
she had married the US based industrialist Pushkar Natt in a quiet
and secret ceremony at Gopalapuram.
None of the film
personalities was invited for the ceremony.
Hi Madan! Looks like Tamil Cinema has began
functioning normally again with its usual number of releases?
Yup. I think I know what film you saw lately. Let me guess.
It's 'Run', isn't it?
Right! First day first show. My
friends were ready to pay even 200 bucks to watch that film. They
are that crazy about Madhavan.
It's a handful of people like
you who are destroying Tamil cinema. Alright, how was the film?
Mmm, our dude was cool, especially in the subway sequence,
where he pulls down the shutters and gets all actioned up. Whew! We
couldn't believe our own eyes. The scene was absolutely hair
raising!
Director Linguswamy is jubilant at the reports of
success that are pouring in from all over the state. "The theaters
that screened 'Aanandam' were full of jasmine flowers and sarees.
This time around, for 'Run', the theatres are full of jeans", the
director said in an all - smiles interview.
Okay. Hey, people who have seen 'King' say that Sneha is hardly
seen anywhere in the film.
Don't even ask. These days,
everybody is crazy about Sneha. However, director Solomon had
chopped away most of her scenes because they were interfering with
the story's pace. This has left her fans extremely disappointed. In
that film, she is the 'King's queen. How could the director simply
snip away the queen's shots.
Yeah. They made Sneha blush
with a title like 'Yei Nee Romba Azaga Irukkae' and they had her
sashaying throughout the film in some colorful costumes. But, look
what happened to the film? Pictures do not become a success just
because the heroine looks great. Let us understand that Madan.
Alright, forget it. Did you read about the Vikram -
Prashanth friction?
Yeah, I did. With 12 hands and ferocious looks, they
are seen in the promo stills for their latest films. I don't know
who stole whose idea Madan, but Vikram, in his 'Saami' Poster, looks
better with his 12 hands. It has a greater impact than Prashanth's.
Probably Prashanth knew about this. That's why, at the
pooja's of his film 'New', he declared that he doesn't consider
anyone as his competitor but if someone wants to compete with him,
then he's ready for them.
Madan, Tamil cinema these days is
looking increasingly like TamilNadu Politics. The actors aren't
happy with just acting and becoming popular. They want to go for
confrontations with each other. This isn't a healthy trend, Madan.
