Samy
(Vikram, Trisha)
It's the
fresh teaming of Vikram and Trisha in 'Samy' - K. Balachander's home production
for his banner Kavithalaya. The film is written and directed by Hari, who had
directed the Prashant starrer 'Thamizh'. The film has music by Harris Jairaj and
cinematography by Priyan.
The star cast includes comedians Ramesh Kanna, Vivek and Murthy, and character actors Vijaykumar, Rajesh, Illavarasu, Manorama, Delhi Ganesh, Sumitra, Ponnambalam, Thyagu, Dalapathy Dinesh, Bala Singh, Azhagu and Keerthana. Also playing crucial roles are Kota Sreenivas Rao, the popular villain of Telugu films, and Gnyanavel (producer of C.J. Combines).
The
film's shooting schedule took place at Karaikudi recently. Taking part in it
were Vikram, Trisha and some junior artistes. Some fight scenes were shot at the
busy lanes in Karaikudi where Vikram chased some rowdies. The scene had Vikram
worshipping at a temple and coming out of it. A gang of rowdies waiting for him
outside the temple, to get him involved into a fight, provoke him by pulling at
his shirt as he crosses them. Vikram instinctively grabs at a sickle nearby and
attacks his tormentors. Seeing a furious and ferocious Vikram, the gang takes to
its heels. Vikram chases them down lanes and gives them the bashing of their
lives.
The fight scene was shot for five days, with Priyan canning the shots and Super Subbarayan choreographing the fights. The film has editing by K.T. Vijayan and is produced by Pushpa Kandasamy, daughter of K. Balachander.
