Tamil Cinema Review - Varushamellam Vasandham, Manoj, Gunal, Anitha, Director Ravi shankar, Sangavi, Ambika, Madanbob, Ambiga
  Varushamellam Vasantham

An eighth standard school dropout and confirmed sheet roamer Manoj falls madly in love with his MCA cousin. He adopts some unfair practices and tricks to achieve his goal and in the end, it ends up paving way to his fall.

In the end, the grand father is proud of his grand son Manoj's accomplishments motivated by love. With that, director Ravishankar ends the film.

Just when Tamil cinema is heading towards, generation next of technological advancements, this low budget film had popped up. Some very amateurish scenes had come together to make this film limp badly. We feel sorry for the audience.

But, the twists on the screenplay and Manoj's emotive performance alone had managed to save this film from being a complete disaster. When Manoj comes to know that his city bred, educated brother (Kunal) too loves the same girl, he come up with some ideas. These are scenes in which the movie picks up some pace.

In order to generate sympathy, Manoj spins a web of lies about his failed love affair with another girl. He then helplessly watches his lies come true when his cousin Anitha begins to fall in love with Kunal. So, Manoj sacrifices his love.

Manoj's acting skills have evolved greatly in this film. This "Thaatha Thaatha nei" rhymes and his game plan are hilarious.

Normally one would find Doctors and Engineers in a Collector's family. It's extremely unbelievable to see a school dropout in such a family.

Kunal looks tragic. He blinks, blinks and blinds as he watches the happenings around him. Why Anitha falls in love with him is a huge April 1 secret.

Anitha - moderately good looking. Moderate acting skills.

Throughout the film, one only hears "Yengae andha vennila".(by Sirpi) They didn't have to torture us by playing a good song so many times.

Sanghavi's entry brings a song. Manoj ends up losing his love. That's all that's left towards the end of the film.

Manoj lies that his "loves" is going to get married to someone else. How he ends up.

Sanghavi's wedding card to Anitha is a big mystery. There's something else too - first Ambika-Madan Babu couple gladly accept when Manoj is chosen as Anitha's groom. They are equally wiling to change their mind when Kunal's name is suggested. What kind of parents are they anyway? Manoj goes to the iron kiln each day. We've been seeing this scene for ages now.

It's pretty obvious that the director only had a good story and some good scenes and that the unit had rushed to the shooting spots with only these.

If only they had paid some more attention to the screenplay, then this would have been a stunning good film.
